National Gardens Scheme 24TH MAY 2009 2-
On this Sunday afternoon, I will be taking part in the National Gardens Scheme open day events, my garden will be open to the public.
Weather permitting, I will also paint in the garden during the course of the afternoon, and there will be a small exhibition of my paintings on view.
For address and enquiries, please call me on 01923 824180.
Please note that there will be an entrance fee of £3, children free. Teas and cakes will be available. The proceeds of the afternoon will go to the National Gardens Scheme’s charities.
The garden is well worth a visit. It is a large garden at its best in Spring. There
is a raised patio by the house with colourful, planted tubs and urns, leading to
a sweeping lawn, set against a backdrop of mature trees, massive rhodedendrons, colourful
azaleas, black and green bamboos and a superb Sambucus Nigra. The garden has lush
herbaceous borders with a mixture of perennials, annuals, and evergreen shrubs chosen
for year-
There are two trios of ponds, one trio stocked with fish and beautiful border plants including arum lillies, the other trio at the bottom of the garden linked by a stream and surrounded by a rock garden with alpines and a variety of beautiful acers. A small bridge traverses the stream; the lowest pond is cool and dark, illuminated by glass art.
